This tool compare the text submitted by the user with a predefined control corpus. The tool lists the words common in both texts, in an order set by the user. At present, the tool only offers the Brown Corpus, with more predefined control corpus forthcoming. Users can also upload a text of their own as control corpus.

Compare with Control (Beta) is a free, easy to use web-based tool designed to run in a browser window. It compares a text to a control text and generates a list of words by frequency with statistical information from a plain text document at a user-specified web address or from the user's files.
This tool offers a few options. Users may compare their text with the provided Brown corpus or provide a corpus from their files, and choose to include all words or exclude those words on the Glasgow stop list.
The results can be sorted either by frequency, or by ratio over the control corpus, and be displayed as HTML or a tab delimited list. The information provided in the results includes counts, relative frequencies and relative distributions. This tool can handle novel-length texts, though the tool's processing slows as the text size increases.
The tool has a few problems. While it will accept HTML and XML documents, it strips all tagging and processes it as if it were plain text. The tab delimited list option has a poor alignment of headers to columns, impacting the clarity of the data. In addition, users are unable to provide their own stop word list.
Despite these limitation, Compare with Control (Beta) is an effectively way to quickly generate statistics showing the difference between a given text and a control corpus.
