TAPoR Text Analysis Portal for Research

For researchers who work with text

Find a text analysis tool that fits the work.

TAPoR catalogues concordancers, annotators, topic models, stylometry packages, and visualization environments. Every record notes the platform, the license, and what the tool is actually good for.

  • Platform, license, and method on every record
  • Reviews from people who teach with the tools

RivEx

RivEX is a GIS tool designed to process vector river networks. It enables the user to undertake a range of tasks associated with the spatial analysis of river networks, including checking the network for topological errors, converting a network to a measured network and generating regular or random sampling points across the network. RivEX is an ESRI AddIn and has been developed to run on ArcGIS 10.2.1. It is not compatible with earlier versions of ArcGIS. There is a cost associated with the software, though this has been discounted for academic use. If you purchase this tool, you will receive all future upgrades free of charge for the current major release.

Analysis

RSiena

RSiena is a free, open source social network analysis package for R. It replaces Siena (Simulation Investigation for Empirical Network Analysis), which was a stand-alone program for Windows. Like its predecessor, RSiena is optimized for social network data, but is also applicable to other forms of network data, and relies on Markov chain models to generate network dynamics. T his approach is best applied to data where relations between actors and their behaviour can be treated as a state rather than as an event. Users not familiar with R can run RSiena via the provided graphical user interface.
