TAPoR Text Analysis Portal for Research

For researchers who work with text

Find a text analysis tool that fits the work.

TAPoR catalogues concordancers, annotators, topic models, stylometry packages, and visualization environments. Every record notes the platform, the license, and what the tool is actually good for.

  • Platform, license, and method on every record
  • Reviews from people who teach with the tools

Creation

Jekyll

Jekyll is a simple, blog aware, static site generator. It takes a template directory containing raw text files in various formats, runs it through Textile or Markdown and Liquid converters, and creates a complete, static ready-to-publish website suitable for serving with your favorite web server. Jekyll also happens to be the engine behind GitHub Pages, which means you can use Jekyll to host your project’s page, blog, or website from GitHub’s servers for free.

JEUDEMO

JEUDEMO was an information retrieval program developed at the University of Montreal in the 1970s. It built on and extended the functionality of COCOA by including Boolean search functions to search for patterns within a text such as co-occurences, but saw limited adoption as it required texts to be supplied on punched cards or paper tape and was programmed in a language exclusive to the CDC Cyber 74 computer system.
